Children of Haiti Concert at NCC Saturday

Rehearsals are under way and the children of Guyana will make their contribution to the devastated people of Haiti at the National Cultural Centre this Saturday.

In what is being dubbed the Children of Guyana for Children of Haiti Concert, youngsters from Regions Four (Demerara/Mahaica) and 10 (Upper Demerara/ Berbice) will perform at the NCC and will donate the proceeds to the disaster-struck country.

In an invited comment, Mr. Lennox Canterbury, Head of the Mashramani Secretariat, said admission cost to the National Cultural Centre was significantly reduced to encourage more participation.

“For adults it is $300 and for children it is $100…We are expecting a good show and hope that we will have the support of public-spirited Guyanese to help Haiti,” he said.

Canterbury added that the along with the concert, the Junior Calypso Competition will also be kicked off.

“This is a chance for the youth to make their contribution to aid the devastation in Haiti,” Canterbury said.

He lauded the contribution of all the participants, and among them are Apex Academy, National School of Dance and dramatists from the Theatre Guild
