He was a clothes vendor who, often, plied his trade in the city and a friend of his told the Guyana Chronicle he resided in Cayenne but used to stay at the Kitty address.
Police said no arrests have yet been made but investigations into the murder are continuing.
A passer-by stumbled upon Campbell’s mutilated corpse that bore multiple stab wounds and the throat was slashed.
It lay face down on one side under a coconut tree just behind Guyana Forestry Commission offices in Water Street, Kingston.
Police took possession of a bloodstained cutlass that was nearby the remains which were clad in a red jersey, light green pants, green and white underpants and black sandals.
The man who made the discovery, Vickasy Dover, told Police at the crime scene that it was about 08:00 h while he was walking on the seawall.
The circumstances were similar to those of November 25, 2009, when popular local actor Joel Fraser was found, with his throat slit at Liliendaal seawall, East Coast Demerara, hours before he was to appear at a National Cultural Centre (NCC) show.
Fraser was wearing a hat, t-shirt, underpants and a pair of slippers. A bag containing other footwear and his cellular phone was at the location.
He had last been seen in the vicinity of Bourda Market around midnight before joggers noticed him, around 06:00 h, lying in a pool of blood with his windpipe protruding.
His face had wounds, as well.
