JOEL Cush, 38, a vendor, was yesterday ordered to do two months community service after being convicted of illegal drug possession.
In addition, Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, before whom, at New Amsterdam Court, he admitted having three grammes of marijuana, fined him $15,000.
The dreadlocked convict was nabbed by Police during a raid in the business section of New Amsterdam where he was seen acting suspiciously.
The Court was told Cush threw a paper parcel to the ground and cops, who picked it up, found leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited cannabis plant in it.
Defence Counsel Kim Kyte-John said Cush had the narcotic for his personal use.
The lawyer said, being a Rastafarian by religion, Cush believes the marijuana has healing virtues.
He is expected to report to Central Police Station, in New Amsterdam, one hour per day to be assigned chores by the Station Sergeant.
