CONVICTED felon Clement Humphrey was told that he will know his fate on Friday, yesterday when he made another appearance before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo at New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice.
Humphrey, who was on remand in prison since last October, had previously admitted that, on October 16, at Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, Greater New Amsterdam, he attempted to commit the felony of break and enter and larceny.
Police said, that day, Janella Allen was aroused from her sleep, at 02:00 h, by sounds at her front door.
On checking, she saw Humphrey attempting to breach the door lock with a crow bar and raised an alarm but he escaped after breaking three louvre window panes.
Humphrey, pleading for leniency, said he does chores for Police Assistant Superintendent Fazil Karimbaksh, who was also prosecuting in the case.
The prisoner said, as well, that his sibling had replaced the damaged panes. (Jeune Bailey Vankeric)
