Richardson and Crosse hit tons

GCB three-day first division …
… MSC, DCC, GDF and Enterprise chalk up victories
FORMER national Under-15 captain Kwame Crosse aggregated 144 runs without losing his wicket, as Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) recorded an outright victory over Nandy Park, when action in the Demerara zone of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) nationwide, sponsored three-day first division competition climaxed last Sunday.

Resuming on their overnight score of 162-7 in response to Nandy Park’s first innings score of 124 the previous day, with Crosse on 55, MSC managed to reach 299, a lead of 155, with Crosse hitting an unbeaten 119.

Batting a second time, Nandy Park who resumed the final day on 139-4 were bowled out for 208 with Kevin Singh who resumed on 40, adding three to his overnight score, while Ravendra Madholall and Mark Anthony both made 32.

Demerara left-arm orthodox spinner Damien Van Tull took 6-31 for MSC, who were set 32 for victory and reached 33-2, with Crosse returning to hit an unbeaten 25 as his team recorded an eight-wicket victory to maintain their runner-up position behind group leaders New Line Cavaliers (NLC) who had defeated Lusignan Sports Club by an innings and 44 runs the previous day.

At the Police Sports Club (PSC), Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) recorded a come-from-behind eight-wicket win over PSC, after losing first innings points in their match which commenced the previous day, thanks to the bowling of Totaram Bishun and the batting of all-rounder Christopher Barnwell.

At Enterprise, the home team maintained the stranglehold they had on their visitors, Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC), to come away with a seven-wicket victory, despite Quincy Ovid-Richardson’s ton.

After bowling out their opponents for 163 on the first day, Enterprise replied with 327-7 declared for a 164-run first innings lead.

GNIC reached 246-9 before declaring their second innings closed, with Ovid-Richardson making 125, Collis Butts 37 and Rayon Griffith 23 against the bowling of Kamesh Yadram and Raj Pooran who took three wickets each for 45 and 66 runs respectively and Videsh Lall with 2-77.

Needing to score 77 to complete the victory, they reached 77-3, with Parmanand Dindiall contributing 28.
