CHAIRMAN of the Route 32 Minibus Association, James Cowsil and a conductor, Navidra Kuar have been charged with unlawfully assaulting each other.
Both of them appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday and Cowsil, 50, of Lot ‘KK’ Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara and 23-year-old Kuar (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the January 14 charges.
Defence Counsel Mohammed Zafar, for Cowsil, said the allegations followed a confrontation between the two men after the annual meeting of the association.
The lawyer said Kuar had been identified, at the meeting, for soliciting passengers and was annoyed.
Each of the defendants was put on $25,000 bail and the case was transferred to another Court, for January 28.
