FORMER Guyana and West Indies leg spinner Mahendra Nagamootoo had a 10- wicket match haul as New Line Cavaliers (NLC) demolished Lusignan Sports Club (LSC) by an innings inside two days on Saturday in their Demerara zone match of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) nationwide three- day first division competition, to maintain their lead at the top of the points standing in their zone.
Resuming on their overnight 37-3 in reply to NLC’s first innings score of 285-8 declared they were bowled out for 118 in 40.2 overs. Krishna Deosarran who resumed on 3, went on to make 12, while Kumar Bishundial and Azim Haniff each made 17, with Bishundial innings being an unbeaten one.
Nagamootoo took 6-62 with his leg spinners, while skipper Andre Percival offered support with 2-13.
Asked to bat a second time with a first innings deficit of 167, LSC were bowled out for 123, with Haniff leading the way with 65 which was decorated with six fours and two sixes, while Deosarran struck one six and one four in his 12.
Nagamootoo continued to torment the batsmen, taking 4-49 from 13 overs to end with 10-111 and along with Percival 3-23 and Paul Wintz 2-16, steered their team to a comfortable innings and 44- run victory with a day to spare.
