ESSEQUIBO Police are investigating the shooting of Chaavekanand Kishore, also known as Shawn and Son-son of Sparta, Essequibo Coast.
According to reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle, around 15:00 hrs yesterday, the man’s body was discovered with a gunshot wound in the chest in one of the residential buildings for the staff of the Oscar Joseph Charity District Hospital.

Reports indicate the man, 31, was in the apartment with his spouse Rhonda, a dentist attached to the hospital, when the shooting took place with a .38 revolver belonging to Kishore.
A resident who did not want her name disclosed, said Kishore was a police officer attached to the Brickdam Police Station and was also a body guard for Chancellor of the Judiciary Mr. Carl Singh.
She further said that he only came to the Essequibo Coast last Friday.
Another source close to this newspaper said that the man and his spouse were having domestic problems of late.

Curious onlookers quickly gathered in the hospital compound as news of the shooting spread around the community.
Mr. Kishore has left to mourn his mother Jean, teacher of Telly Tubby play School, and two sisters: Subrina, administrator at the Oscar Joseph District Hospital, and Sharda Kishore, nurse attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The man’s spouse was taken to the Charity Police Station to assist the police with their investigation.
The man’s body was taken to the Charity mortuary where a postmortem is expected to be performed.
