Linden murder

Crime Chief, Seulall Persaud yesterday said that the police are questioning several close associates of Linden taxi Driver, Edward Winfield, following his murder on Old Year’s Day.

He added that the evidence suggests that Edward Winfield was murdered in his home possibly by person (s) he knew and trusted enough to enter his home.

Mr. Persaud noted that indeed a search was carried out at the home of Winfield’s mother and explained that it is all part of the investigation and nothing out of the ordinary.

He said that Winfield was detained in December following the $7.6M robbery at the Wisroc Post Office after they received information that his motorcar was reportedly used in that crime.

The Crime Chief also stated that it is also believed that Winfield’s brutal murder stemmed from the Wisroc Post Office heist.

Edward Winfield, 25, of 279 Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, was found on the road at Bamboo Turn around 07:30 hours on Thursday last.

His body bore several stab wounds, was found by one of his siblings, who went in search of him after he received reports that his loved one car was seen in the area.

Winfield was lying face down and also appeared to have been clubbed at the back of the head, he was shirtless, barefooted and clad in a pair of underpants.

The body also bore defensive wounds on his eyes and hands.

His beige coloured AT 192 HB 5056 was found a few yards away from his body minus the speakers, the Discman and cellular phones.
The back seat of the car is bloodstained.
Winfield is believed to have been murdered in his home and taken to the location.
