Pascal Johnson, 44, of 420 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, who was shot in the head on Sunday night, died early yesterday morning.
He was shot in the temple by a man at about 21:00 h on Sunday in Laing Avenue.
Johnson was visiting his girlfriend when he was reportedly shot by an identifiable man who fled the scene.
Police said yesterday that the woman is in custody assisting with investigations and they are hunting the prime suspect, who they believe is a close acquaintance of the woman.
Johnson’s sister, Shelly Johnson, told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that her brother was in the area and received a telephone call from the woman.
She said, “He was with some friends not far from home and she called him to collect his cell phone and when he got there they had a quarrel.”
Shelly added that her sibling had visited the woman during the day and they had a row over money and a loud exchange of words on the road, and he left.
Johnson succumbed to the gunshot wound at about 03:00 h yesterday at Georgetown Public Hospital.
He had returned last year from working in the interior as a farmer and was staying with his family, including, his mother who is ill.
He is survived by six siblings, his mother and scores of relatives.
