COULD someone in authority say what is the current state of the investment at the former Leonora Estate Senior Staff Compound on the West Coast Demerara ?

The last information given by the Privatisation Unit was that the location was sold to South American Woods Inc. which will be engaging in manufacturing of wooden value-added products. However, so far only a pond was dug and nothing else has happened after several months.

The only development at the moment is that the location is being used to dump old cars.

It would be useful if the Privastisation Unit could bring the public up to date on what is taking place at Leonora.

The people of Leonora would also like to know what is happening with the Leonora Park-the home of one of the former top cricket clubs in this country.

More than a year ago the fence and pavilions were demolished and since then nothing else has happened. The once top level cricket ground is now in such a terrible state, that even cattle are refusing to go there.
