Taxi owner, market stallholder remanded on rape charge

OWNER of Skyline Taxi Service, Winston Adams, 43, of Lot 303 North East La Penitence and Stabroek Market stallholder Noel Cromwell, 39, of Lot 26 Dowding Street, Kitty, also in Georgetown, have been jointly charged with rape.

They appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday on the indictable charge which said, between December 12 and 14, they had sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent.

Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson, representing Adams, protested that the latter was arrested by Police but no identification parade was conducted.

Thompson said he is surprised at the manner in which the investigation was conducted because Adams does not know the virtual complainant.

However, after all the parties were called to the Magistrate’s Bench and the victim spoke, the men were remanded to prison through December 30
