The police are investigating the death of boat service operator Patricia Williams, 50, whose body was found partly submerged in the Essequibo River at Fowl Mouth, Essequibo River, at about 23:30 hours on Monday.

Police reported that Williams had transported a group of men from Bartica to Fowl Mouth with a suspect being the last person to be put off.

A relative subsequently saw her boat drifting, and after a search found her body in the river.

The suspect has not yet been arrested.

Efforts are being made to transport the body to Georgetown where a post mortem will be performed.
