I was very moved when reading your edition of December 12 in which George Barclay reported that The Hon. Mr. Justice Bovell-Drakes directed the observation of one-minute silence in his court. This was a commendable gesture in marking the passing of the eminent legal luminary, Senior Counsel Professor Peter Britton.
It was a great honour and privilege for me to have had my petition for admission to practice as an Attorney-at-Law presented to the Supreme Court in August 2004 by ‘cousin’ Peter, my mentor.
He was indeed an outstanding member of the legal profession. May I convey my sincere condolences to his widow, family and all our relatives in Hopetown, Berbice, and elsewhere.
