Man held in Texaco Service Station robbery

A man is in police custody and his motor car lodged with the police following an armed robbery at a service station at Bel Air Village, Greater Georgetown.

Police reported that at about midday yesterday at the Texaco Service Station at Bel Air, pump attendant Compton Matthews was attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Matthews was at the fuel pump when the three men held him at gunpoint and took him into the supermarket where they took away a cash register with computer, $36,000 in cash and a cell phone, and escaped in a waiting motor car.
