The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 18:30h Sunday at No. 54 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Vishnu Sugrim, 49, of No. 54 Village.

Police reported that Sugrim was riding his bicycle along the roadway when he attempted to cross the road and ended up in the path of an oncoming motor car. He was struck down.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Skeldon Hospital.
The driver of the motor car is in police custody assisting with investigations.
