‘Terrorist’ remanded on robbery charge

McDONALD Gobin alias ‘Terrorist’, 28, of Smythfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was remanded to prison on Monday.

He appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, in New Amsterdam Court, on an indictable robbery charge and was refused bail.

Police Lance Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said the offence was committed on November 20, when the accused, in company with others, entered the dwelling house of school teacher Samantha Prince, at Vryman’s Erven, also in New Amsterdam and robbed her of two gold chains valued $36,000.

The Prosecutor, who objected to pre-trial freedom for Gobin, said he was positively identified by the virtual complainant.
The case will be called, again, on December 14.
