Minister of Tourism Industry and Commerce, Manniram Prashad Saturday today unveiled a city directional map which was erected by the Tourism Ministry and the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) on Main Street to provide guidance to tourists and Guyanese as they move around the city.
Minister Prashad said that the erection of the map is another main activity for Tourism Awareness Month which will not only serve as guide for tourists, but for Guyanese who do not reside in the city.
The location, he said, was chosen since it is a central part of Georgetown where all the main sites are established.
Minister Prashad noted that the map has been designed and coded with all the directions necessary for tourists..
It is a tremendous boost to Guyanese and with the large influx of tourists expected for the Christmas season, will certainly enhance the information required for their guidance, the Minister said.
Tourism Awareness Month is being observed under the theme “Promoting Quality and sustainable Tourism in Guyana.” Since its launch on November 1, several activities were held to observe the month of events, including a poster competition, customer service training for front desk clerks, taxi drivers and airport staff.
