Riddim Squad beat Santos to register 6th consecutive victory

RIDDIM Squad beat Santos by a 2-0 margin to register their sixth consecutive victory in the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA)/Western Union First Division League.

In the game that was played as the supporting fixture of the GFA’s Cellink Plus Premier League on Friday evening at the Tucville ground, Sceyon Hope and Dorville Stewart found the back of Santos’ net in the 21st and 55th minutes respectively.

The win for Riddim Squad earned them three points, taking them to 18 points, five ahead of the second place team (Uprising) in the points standing.

It was Santos’ first loss in the 2009 League and they are currently third in the points standing with 12 points.

Houston Stars and Beacons occupy the other two places in the League with seven and six points respectively.

Thomas United and University of Guyana were both disqualified from further participating in the tournament after they both gave walk overs on two consecutive occasions.

Play in the Division One League will continue today with a double header at the Camptown ground.

The feature match brings together Beacons and Santos from 16:00h, while from 14:00h, Black Pearl opposes Houston Stars.
