-Ramdass in for Everest, Butts out for GNIC When the action bowls off from 12:00h under the supervision of umpires Eddie Nichols and Joseph Jeffrey, Everest will be looking to dethrone their opponents who shared the title with Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) last year. GNIC ensured that MSC will not be here this year, by defeating them outright in their semi final clash held two weeks ago whilst Everest took first innings points from a strong Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) lineup in their semifinal matchup. When GNIC faced MSC in their semi final match, they were led by excellent batting from national Under-17 opener Quincy Ovid-Richardson, Martin Rajmangal, former national Under-17 captain and wicketkeeper Dexter Solomon, David Dick and Ranole Bourne. The bowling was taken care of by former national and West Indies off spinner cum chairman of selectors Clyde Butts who took seven wickets in the match, his son Collis with amicable support from Bourne and the veteran Kenneth Alphonso. There will be no Clyde Butts, who has been tormenting batsmen in this competition with his spin for GNIC this time around and how much of an impact his absence would be the Woolford Avenue based club is left to be seen. They can still turn to Bourne, Alphonso, Elton Baker who was struck for 26 runs in one over by a rampant Steven Jacobs during his 33 balls 81 in MSC’s second innings, Collis Butts and the lesser known Carl Hilliman. Everest’s contingent is a strong one consisting of national opener Rajendra Chandrika, former West Indies opener Ryan Ramdass, Christopher Patadin, Ryan Rajmangal, Troy Gonsalves, Javed Rasheed, skipper Abhilash Dookie, wicketkeeper Joseph Perry and the veteran Surendra Heeralall. Former West Indies Under-15 leg spinner Amir Khan, Gonsalves, Dookie, Christopher Surat and Chanderpaul Hemraj will be taking care of the bowling for Everest. Prior to the start of the finals, the teams will be met by a representative of the sponsors, the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Company, who will be presenting the sponsorship cheque of $750,000. to the president of the GCA Alfred Mentore.
