Collins calls out Rogers

-Raddison Suites to house De Groot and entourage
With joint promoters S and S Promotions and Holland Enterprise Promotions (HEP) finding it difficult to locate an opponent for heavyweight stalwart Mitchell Rogers, Dexter ‘Goldteeth’ Collins has made the job easier, by calling out Rogers to prove he is the better heavyweight around.

Collins took the time to announce his intentions, even as Raddison Suites which is located in Queenstown, announced their aim of housing Canada’s very own Corrine De Groot who is of Guyanese descent and her entourage, during their stay here.

De Groot will be facing Shaundell Alfred for the Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) bantamweight title in the main bout on the card dubbed Caribbean Fury in two weeks time at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).

But it was Collins’ hype which took away the limelight from Christine Haynes marketing representative of Raddison Suites, along with president of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) Peter Abdool and head of Holland Enterprise Promotions Carwyn Holland.

“I am here to finish off this guy Rogers. He will be stop dead in his tracks with his boasting about being the best heavyweight around. Yes he can say he is the best, but that’s when I am not around and I have decided to turn pro to show him he is not the best and I will prove it by stopping him” said Collins.

The 36 year old former Guyana Defence Force soldier who has an amateur record of 7-3 with five knockouts, further stated, “He has two gold teeth whilst I have four and on Saturday 26th, I will be knocking out his two gold teeth, while at the same time, ensuring mine stay in place. He is no match for me and I want to say thanks to the GBBC and the promoters for giving me this opportunity to showcase to the public, that I am the best heavyweight around on the local scene.”

Meanwhile, both Raddison Suites and the National Communications Network (NCN) have answered the call of the sponsors to corporate Guyana, by contributing in their own way towards the success of the card which is earmarked to be the biggest one ever held locally.

Raddison who has been partnering with HEP will be housing De Groot and her entourage free of cost, which according to Abdool is a huge burden taken off the shoulders of the promoters.

“When you bring in fighters from overseas, you have to find accommodation and this timely gesture by Raddison Suites will definitely go as a relief to the promoters and along with NCN chipping in with free advertising and broadcasting this fight for rebroadcast, they could not ask for a better contribution today” said Abdool.

Haynes congratulated the promoters, especially Holland for putting together a card of such magnitude and welcomed the opportunity given to Raddison Suites to house De Groot and her entourage, saying that they have been supporting sports, more so boxing in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

Apart from the De Groot/Alfred and Collins/Rogers matchup, other bouts on the card will see Leon’ Hurry up’ Moore facing Mauricio Pastrana, Howard Eastman matching gloves with Trinidad and Tobago’s Kevin Placide.

Iwan Azore and Wayne Briggs, Dexter Marques and Hewley Robertson and Paul Lewis and Shawn Pile will all be competing on what is being deemed the biggest card to ever be held here in Guyana.
