Albion players did not desert their club

I would like to correct the statement made and publish by Kaieteur News on Tuesday September 8, 2009.

Officials of Albion Cricket Club would like to inform their supporters that our players never deserted the Club to participate in a private tournament.

Let’s set the record straight. Most of the players selected met with officials of the Albion Cricket Club and requested permission to participate in the private tournament in which permission was granted long before the Berbice Cricket Board published their incorrect fixture. The said date Albion was schedule to play one match on Saturday and not back to back (Saturday and Sunday) as were organized by Berbice Cricket Board.

The Manager (Mr. Muthuswammi Permual) in a letter to the BCB requested that the Saturday game shifted to this Sunday when there will be no game. Since the players were invited to have lunch with President Barrat Jagdeo. However, that could not have r materialised since BCB would be full of joy if Albion Cricket Club is knocked out of the Neal and Massy tournament which will never happen.

All our players are committed and dedicated to the Albion Club if it were not for the President’s invitation to have lunch with them they should have reached Skeldon and returned to play the night again. Reference can be made with Sewnarine Chattergoon returned to Guyana 8:35 am without any sleep, pay a taxi $2,5000 to be at Albion to participate in the TELENEX final which Albion won handsomely over Rose Hall Town after participated in WIPA 20/20 Ball of Fury in Trinidad the night before

Therefore, it will be unjust to say that our players are committed. They are at Albion.

Albion’s non-participation in the BCB sanction DJ Stress 20/20 was due to several conflicts with the Board Executives in which a protest match was awarded to Upper Corentyne and the protest was not signed. Money make BCB sanction DJ Stress 20/20 if not the will never get the blessing from BCB and how the held BCB can sanction and GCB does not. However, after Albion decided not to participate in the DJ Stress 20/20 the official of the Club met with the sponsor and decided not to play Corentyne Titans (What a name) but to participate as Albion after nine of our first division players were selected to play with corentyne Titan.

Mr. David Black and BCB should get their record straight since they allowed the Busta Champion of Champions (another private venture) to be played on the date when a Tenelec match was scheduled for.

BCB is so poorly organised that there were no selectors at Albion for the first half of the Tenelec final so what the selectors will do.
