UPPO Seeraj, charged with attempting to commit a felony, yesterday appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry and was remanded to prison.
Seeraj (no address given), was not required to plead to the charge which said, on August 7, he attempted to break into the shop of Richard Slowe with intent to steal.
Seeraj claimed that the Police officers are always framing charges against him because he has some issues with them. He said the officers are against him because he refuses to be an informer to them.
He also told the Magistrate that he does his “little hustle” by sending “weed” (marijuana) to French Guiana.
Seeraj was remanded to prison and will return to court on August 31.
Another defendant, Jamal Aaron, 20, of Lot 1717 Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to a similar charge.
It is alleged that, during the night of May 29, he broke into the dwelling house of Kensley Alleyne and stole a DVD player, a cell phone, and cash totalling $101,000.
Aaron was also remanded to prison and will return to court on September 1.
