Victoria Kings tackle Fruta Conquerors, GDF take on Alpha tonight
FOOTBALL fans can expect lots of football action this evening at the GFC ground, Bourda, as the East Demerara Reunion Football tournament winds down.
The tournament is now down to the last four. Alpha United, GDF, Victoria Kings and Fruta Conquerors will be looking to secure a place in the final which is set for Sunday at the same venue.
In the first encounter which starts at 18:00 h, Fruta Conquerors will come up against Victoria Kings. Conquerors will be led by Gerald Gittens. He will get support from Neville Stanton, Manasseh Primo, Lennox Charles, Delon Williams and Gavin De Costa; while Oswald Cornette will do duties in goal. Victoria Kings will be led by captain Andrew Holder and he will receive valuable support from Calvin De Souza, Kwesi De Souza, Orin Elias, Rolston ‘Crespo’ Morrison and Aubrey Gibson. The defense will be controlled by Shawn Samuels, Kojo ‘Cutter’ Huntley, Samuel Blackette and Mortimer Murphy.
In the feature game from 20:00 h, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will do battle with Alpha the ‘Hammers’ United, in a match that football fans must be waiting eagerly to see.
The sides have had some real battles over the last few months, in the ‘Sweet Sixteen’ tournament and the Premier League. The soldiers will be led by captain Warren Gilkes. He will get support from Stellon David, Rodwell Sandy, Shawn Arthur, Ryan Adolph and Sheik Kamal. The defence will be marshalled by Sherlock Dowden, Ryan Morrison, Devon Harris, and Jerome Richardson. Alpha will field a star-studded side, led by Shawn Bishop, Dwight Peters, Dwayne Jacobs, Abassy McPherson, Howard Lowe, and Quincy Madramootoo.
