Bandits rob, chop attendant at Lima gas station

A 46-year-old attendant at H. Narine & Sons (Sham) Gas Station at Lima, Essequibo Coast, was wounded and robbed by bandits around 03.20h yesterday.

Information reaching the Guyana Chronicle said that Dennis Hendricks was alone at the gas station when two men wearing masks came into the station and threatened to kill him if he did not hand over the night’s takings

The men chopped Hendricks several times on his hands with a cutlass and escaped with $42,000 in cash as well as phone cards worth $12,000.

Hendricks was later admitted to the Suddie Public Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Proprietor of the gas station, Hardat Narine, told this newspaper that this was the second time in two months that his station was robbed. Bandits robbed him of $416,000 on June 4 last.

The matter was reported to the Anna Regina Police Station where the police are investigating.
