ONEIL Bovell appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, on a simple larceny charge yesterday, following the end of a relationship with a woman.
The defendant, of Lot 20 Silver City, Wismar, Linden, pleaded not guilty of stealing, one portfolio lighting tavern, a ceiling fan and a kitchen aid mixer, all valued $120,000, belonging to Marcia Phillips, between March 20 and July 2, from Second Street, Alexander Village.
Defence Counsel Adrian Thompson said Bovell previously lived with Phillips but is a shop assistant at Mahdia, Potaro.
The lawyer said the prosecution has its genesis in a problem involving Bovell and Phillips that caused the former to be put on $15,000 station bail.
Phillips claimed Bovell falsely told Police that she burned his clothes and other belongings but she has all to prove the lie.
Bovell was ordered to post $20,000 bail until September 4.
