Ministry of Health fire…
I WOULD like to condemn the ‘firebombing’ of the Ministry of Health by channa bombs/molotov cocktails. Although I had an inkling that there was going to be trouble in Guyana, I refrained from voicing my concerns.
If we remember the scenario under which the Lusignan Massacre (during which five little children were butchered) was perpetrated in 2008, we can see that there are certain similarities:
i) In 2008 and 2009, the Ministry of Tourism had reported that the tourism industry was growing,
ii) In 2008 and 2009, the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) was in a state of self destruction.
The destructive act of firebombing the Ministry of Health can only be termed as the act of a sociopath who seeks to destroy Guyana’s ability to progress peacefully, politically, socially and economically when the above two points are taken into account for an objective of one-upman-ship.
The positive thing to be drawn from all this is that no one was injured, and neither did any deaths occur. And while we, as Guyanese, are saddened at the destruction of a building, it can always be rebuilt.
I suppose there are some Guyanese who would be thanking God for the fire bombers, and calling them heroes. I simply do not understand the point that is being made by this act of wanton destruction, since the inspired crime waves and ‘slo’fiah mo’fiah’ campaigns of over 10 years did not accomplish the task of pounding the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT OF GUYANA into the grounds, so it is doubtful that a sustained campaign of terror would accomplish this task.
