Marijuana in prison case postponed to November 16

MAGISTRATE Hazel Octave-Hamilton yesterday granted bail to Richard Waldron on a drug possession charge.

The defendant, of Lot 222 Grove, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty, denying that he, on June 29, had five grammes of cannabis (marijuana).

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Telford said the offence was committed while Waldron was on remand at the Georgetown Jail, where he was found with leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited plant in his underwear.

Waldron was ordered to lodge $15,000 surety, pending trial on November 16.
