Two more accused thieves remanded

TWO more accused thieves were remanded to prison yesterday by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

One of them, Terrence Forde, 20, of Lot 173 Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to having broken into the dwelling house of Edwin Nunes and stolen a grass cutter worth $160,000.

Forde alleged that Nunes made the allegation because he does not like him for a son-in-law but the latter declared he had never seen the former prior to the burglary.

Nunes said it was his son who saw the defendant with the machine, after entry into his house was gained through the removal of two louvre windows.

Forde has to be back in Court on July 24.

The other prisoner on remand, Jason Colinet nicknamed ‘Malgum’, denied a simple larceny charge.

The 31-year-old porkknocker, of Mongrippa Hill, Bartica, is charged with having, between June 3 and 10, at Arimu Backdam, Cuyuni River, stolen a quantity of dredging equipment, foodstuff and other booty, all valued $730,680, belonging to Albert Henry Summer.

That case has been put off to August 5.
