KUMAR Singh, alias ‘Dumb Boy’, 34, of Lot 18 Third Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, was yesterday sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for break and enter and larceny.

He pleaded guilty to the offence before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, admitting that, on July 14, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Angad Rajkumar and stole a gas cylinder valued $5,000.

Singh said he did steal the cylinder but denied breaking into the house.

He claimed Rajkumar’s gate was open and he took the booty from the veranda.

But Rajkumar, who said he has a very high gate that is always closed, related that Singh went through a back door.

Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said Singh and Rajkumar are neighbours.
