Dead is Ameron Gulad, called ‘Imran’, 33. His grieving wife, Nalini, told the Guyana Chronicle that her husband returned home after purchasing a plucking machine and was in the process of trying it out when tragedy struck.
Mrs. Gulad said though she was upstairs at the time, she distinctly recalled hearing her husband on the phone talking to the people he bought the machine from, after complaining that it had malfunctioned.
She said he told her shortly before he was electrocuted that the motor on the machine was not working and that he’d even telephoned an electrician to have it checked.
Mrs. Gulad said she came downstairs to check on her husband when the rain began to drizzle and not seeing him, called out his name but got no response. She later found him slumped over the fence in front of the yard.
“I touched him and felt a tingling sensation, and I realised that I had gotten shocked too and quickly released him and called out for help,” she explained.
By the time neighbours arrived, her husband was already dead.
Mrs. Gulad said she ran upstairs and unplugged the electricity to the plucking machine and alerted the police.
Scores of relatives, neighbours and family members had gathered at the home to comfort Gulad’s wife and his two children.
The Gulads operate a poultry business, and had bought a plucking machine for the first time.
Meanwhile, the Police have confirmed that the incident occurred at about 08:30h yesterday and that they are awaiting the results of a post mortem.
