THE precarious nature of a utility pole in Durbana Square has been causing the residents of this Lamaha Gardens community many a sleepless night, but they are yet hopeful that the relevant authorities will attend to it in time before a major accident occurs. The utility pole, which houses a transformer, is on the verge of snapping.
Residents say they have made several complaints to the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) company but that to date no action has been taken.

This pole may snap at any time, and it may result in a fire, owing to the slow response time of the utility company responsible, which is of great cause for concern because my home is nearby,” one resident said yesterday.
Others expressed similar views, and asked that the pole be replaced as soon as possible to avert any disaster, considering their welfare. (Michel Outridge)
