for the purchase of Motor Vehicle Licence
THE Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) would like to remind the general public that the deadline for the acquisition of motor vehicle licences is today.
GRA, in a statement yesterday, warned that persons who fail to comply with the stipulated deadline will be penalised under the law as the Guyana Police Force will be monitoring vehicle owners to ensure that they have their licences. Charges will be made against defaulters.
Applicants for new or renewed documents are advised to present the following documents: taxpayer identification number, registration, insurance, fitness certificate and previous years licences in cases of renewal.
Persons purchasing licences in Essequibo, Berbice and Linden where the manual system is still in use are also required to provide a photocopy of their vehicle registration to be kept by the certifying office, and present their TIN which can be certified at any GRA regional office.
The cost of the motor vehicle licence is based on the weight of the vehicle and the cost has remained the same as last year, the GRA said.
For more information on motor vehicle licence, persons are asked to contact the Licence Revenue Office in Georgetown on Telephone number 225-6143.
