THE police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 00:30 hrs last Saturday at Alness, Corentyne, during which Usha Ashram was attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations revealed that Usha Ashram was alone at home when she was aroused by the two men who had gained entry into her house by using a ladder to climb through a window. She was held at gunpoint and robbed of her jewellery after which the men escaped.

Acting on information received, one of the men was later arrested by the police and has been positively identified by the victim. He is in police custody and will be charged shortly.
