VICE-CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Vishnu Samaroo announced, at the last Regional Democratic Council (RDC) meeting for June, that the stelling at Charity was built for farmers and not loggers. Consequently, he said the Regional Executive Officer, Mr. Sunil Singh has been instructed to write a stern letter to the Chairman of Charity/Urasara Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) about the usage of the facility. Samaroo was responding to People’s National Congress Reform-One Guyana (PNCR-1G) Councillor Marva Bowen, who said farmers are not getting the use of the pier because lumber was being packed there. The Vice-Chairman assured that the Regional Administration is very concerned about the weight of the wood on the wharf. Alliance for Change (AFC) Councillor Francis Darchiville reported that several farmers and their perishable produce were removed from the place recently to accommodate a promotion by a beverage company. He agreed action must be taken to make sure farmers get the benefit of the building at all times.
