Another boost for `Final Execution’ boxing card

S&S Promotions’ ‘Final Execution’ boxing card got another timely boost from corporate Guyana yesterday when Western Union donated $200 000 to promoter of the card, Stanford Solomon, at the company’s headquarters on Water Street.

Marketing Manager of Grace Kennedy Remittance Services (GKRS), home of Western Union, Natheeah King, in a prepared release noted, “It can be a rocky road to achieve world recognition status and our local talents need the encouragement. It is against this backdrop in keeping with our policy that we support this card and boxers in achieving their dreams”.

King reiterated the company’s long standing alliance with the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) and that the company is committed to supporting the GBBC events. She also made mention of the fact that the sport is experiencing some bad times.

“GKRS has a long relationship with the GBBC and will try to assist where we see it worthy. Boxing is a very exciting and lucrative sport and at the said time a very tough sport,” King explained.

Solomon upon receiving the cheque was adamant that the card will be a success and that he will continue to promote the sport despite the challenges that are facing the sport at the moment. He stated that the GBBC has also been supportive of his undertakings and it was admirable that companies are also throwing their support to ensure the athletes, as well as the sport, develop.
