CHRIS Rampersaud, 30, was remanded to prison on a burglary charge yesterday.
He appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan Persid-Edmond, at New Amsterdam Court, charged with attempting to commit a felony, break and enter and larceny at a Belvedere, Corentyne house, also in Berbice.
After the defendant pleaded not guilty to entering the dwelling of Peter Sangster, Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had secured his home and gone to seek medical attention.
However, while away from his residence, he received a telephone call and acting on the information received, went to Albion Police Station, another part of Corentyne, where he made a report.
Ranks responded and found inside the building, having entered through a door which he wrenched open, the Prosecutor said.
Rampersaud (no address given) is to make his next appearance at Albion Court, to where the case has been transferred, for June 30.
