NDC Chairman reports on developments at Charity

CHAIRMAN of Charity/Urasara Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Mr. Ayube Khan has reported that several projects have been completed to boost development at Charity on the Essequibo Coast.

He said the local authority has constructed a 46 feet greenheart revetment to protect part of the river dam in that village and has done maintenance work on Sunita sluice.

Khan said 3,000 acres of farmland are now benefitting from better drainage and the NDC has also built a bridge to access Charity cemetery where a shed was erected.

He mentioned, as well, the building of a street at New Road and a loam pathway to the home of Puresh, the only person living in that part of Somerset and Berks.

The NDC is currently maintaining streets in the old and new housing schemes at Charity, Khan said.

Meanwhile, the NDC said it will take stern action to remove squatters from the Government reserve at Somerset and Berks.

Khan said the sheds at the location will be dismantled and warned that State land would only be used for Government projects in future.

He added that a home for senior citizens, the construction of which was undertaken many years ago by the People’s National Congress (PNC) Government on State land, will be dismantled because if its dilapidated condition.
