Thieves strike truck right under police nose

I was appalled to read the predicament of these two drivers (article 14/06/2009) and the behaviour of the Police Officer but guess the laws in Guyana are different where drivers have to carry a cabinet full of driving related documents in case they are stopped by the Law. These two men were reporting a crime, for God sake and it is disgusting the way the Police acted. Then again, I should not be shocked, because some years back I was robbed of my bangles right in front Stabroek Market and a Police Officer saw the crime as he had his feet up on the dashboard of his vehicle a few feet away, saw everything, and did nothing. A nearby stall holder later told me that the Police share the proceeds of such crimes and I won’t be surprised if these two drivers were not set up to leave their vehicle and subsequently got robbed. That is Guyana for you.
