TGI seminars teach better construction techniques

Trinidad Cement Limited Guyana Inc. (TGI) is reinforcing its commitment to providing quality lifelong building investments in Guyana with seminars and workshops for cement vendors and inspectors as well as block-makers and construction workers.

TGI Plant Manager, Mark Bender, says “The seminars are an integral part of the company’s commitment to assisting with improved infrastructure in the country. We hold the view that within the constancy of global change, individuals and businesses will only succeed if they focus on generating and sustaining a culture of excellence, and all of our sessions will focus on improving the standards of cement construction in Guyana.”

Cement technologist, Danny Jairam, of ETERCNOC in Trinidad and Tobago, will make presentations during these sessions on the effective use of cement.

The first seminar was held yesterday for cement vendors. During the session at the Annex Restaurant, vendors were briefed on the current status of the cement industry globally and regionally, and the current demand for product. They were also informed of important guidelines to follow when building.

Today and tomorrow, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards will partner with TGI to provide the seminars for inspectors, block-makers and construction workers. The block-makers and construction workers seminar on Friday is open to the public, and will be held at the TGI compound on Lombard Street from 9 hrs.

TGI will be taking the cement tent to Berbice on Saturday, where builders, homeowners and aspiring homeowners can get a chance to learn more about cement mixing. Persons will also get a chance to participate in cement demonstrations. This begins at 10hrs at the Area H Cricket Ground in Rose Hall.
