Search off for two fishermen still missing

THE search for the captain and a 14-year-old schoolboy, who were reported missing since leaving on a fishing trip last May 26, has been called off.

Michael Ramlochan, 38 and teenager Peter Torres were never found despite several searches, by family members and others, after the remains of two more crew members of the ‘Sir Kegan’ were recovered.

All four of them departed Meadow Bank Wharf in Georgetown for the sea voyage and were due to return in two days.

But only the decomposed bodies of cousins Basdeo Ramphal, 22, and Ramlall Ramphal, 26, were discovered a week ago near the mouth of the Pomeroon River and buried.

Also retrieved were two torn life jackets and the ice box from their vessel was plucked from the deep in North West District, another part of Essequibo.

The receptacle was positively identified by Nalini Singh, wife of Ramlochan, who is the owner of the boat.
