WENDELL Meusa continued his dominance on the local scene to take the top spot when the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) held its Rapid Chess tournament last Sunday, at the YMCA, Thomas Lands.

Meusa amassed eight points out of a maximum nine, with his only loss coming against veteran player Errol Tiwari.
On the other hand, Learie Webster, who hasn’t had much success in the last few tournaments found excellent form to capture the second prize to finish on seven and a half points, with a loss to Meusa and a draw to newcomer Charles Nunes.
Errol Tiwari took the final podium position with six points. Omar Shariff, David Khan and Shiv Nandalall finished with five and a half points while Haatram Parbat and Alex Joseph had four and a half points.
In the junior category Saeed Ali returned after Grade Six Assessments to capture the top prize. Cecil Cox took the second spot and third went to Kana Khan.
The final points standings were Ali and Cox on five apiece, Khan and Rashad Hussain four, William Holder ended with three and a half points, Sham Khan three points and Sheriffa Ali two and a half points.
