11-race P&P cycle programme on this weekend

NATIONAL cycle coach Hassan Mohammed will coordinate the ninth edition of the P&P Insurance Brokers, Consultants and Travel Services-sponsored 11-race programme at the National Park on Saturday, beginning at 09:00 h.

The feature event will see Alonzo Greaves defending his title which he won last year, while registering a time of one hour 26 minutes 40.46 seconds.

Berbice’s Neil Reece will also be seeking to come out on top in the juvenile category which he won last year.

Saturday’s feature race over 35 laps will see some of the country’s top cyclists vie for honours and a chance to erase the current record for the distance held by Junior Niles.

Among those expected to face the starter for the feature event on Saturday are: Leer Nunes, Tyrone Hamilton, Niles, Geron Williams, Christopher Holder, Christopher Persaud, Enzo Matthews and Albert Philander.

The 11-race programme also includes five-lap races for veterans under and over 50 years of age as well as upright cyclists, three-lap events for BMX riders and a 10-lap event for juveniles.

Managing Director of P&P Insurance Brokers, Consultants and Travel Agency, Bishwa Panday, is expected to be on hand to assist with the presentation of prizes to the respective winners.
