LCDS long awaited solution to climate change

I am convinced that Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) is the long awaited solution to climate change which the world has been seeking.

The fact that Guyana possesses that solution makes me extremely proud.

It took the wisdom of President Bharrat Jagdeo to draw attention to this significant fact that the solution rested dormant in our own backyard and needed to be activated.

With the launching of the (LCDS) I am sure many of my fellow citizens would agree that we are a unique nation that has been blessed with enough forest resources that we can play a major role in the climate change solution.

I am urging one and all to become educated about this strategy and embrace it in appreciation for its importance, not only to the economic development of Guyana but to the entire world.

I commend the President and those whose initiatives were responsible for the drafting of such a valued document. It indeed paves the way for greater economic advancement for Guyana and other nations with preserved forests.

This Strategy if accepted by the developed world has the ability to totally transform the entire Guyanese economy since it would guarantee benefits to every area in our country.

I think it is only fair that Guyana be adequately compensated for providing the world with a blanket against the harsh effects of climate change.

After all, as a nation we emit a minimum of greenhouse gases that contribute to environmental damage while the developed countries built fortunes from economic activities that made them the leading contributors of harmful emissions into the environment that resulted in significant climate change.

Our country is poised to reap tremendous benefits from this strategy and I urge all including the indigenous community to support this venture that if successful, could propel development in every region across this country.
