AFC, Red Thread should apologise for scare-mongering

PLEASE allow me the opportunity to ask the Alliance For Change (AFC) and Red Thread to apologise to the Guyanese people for scare-mongering during the Global Food Price rises during the middle of last year and for being political opportunists.

I have copied a statement from the AFC below to highlight just how wrong the AFC can be in assessing the situation in Guyana in less than one year:

As you can see below, both the AFC and Red Thread had stipulated that it was costing the average Guyanese family of four over $720,000 to feed itself for the year. But the vast majority of Guyanese do not earn incomes of above $450,000 per year, but were able to feed themselves and their families and still manage to pay their bills.

The AFC and Red Thread said that it was their “Seeds of Change” that made the difference. I would like to point out that the vast majority of Guyanese understand that it takes over six months from planting a seed/plant to getting a crop of vegetables.

I shudder to think just how incorrect the view of the AFC was and the effect it would have should the AFC be elected to govern Guyana.

I do not believe that the AFC and Red Thread set out to mislead Guyanese during this period in question. It is more a case of them not really knowing what they are talking about than a deliberate attempt to mislead Guyanese.
What “other viewpoint” does the AFC have that is blatantly incorrect?
