Namilco has also introduced its packaged thunderbolt flour in Portuguese, slated for the Brazil market.

Managing Director Mr. Bert Sukhai highlighted the planned programme for their anniversary celebrations this week which includes a fun day for employees, an open day in which members of the public are invited to view their operations and a reception on Thursday.

Mr. Sukhai added that over the years, Namilco introduced nine products on the local market in 18 different sizes and soon they will re-launch Cream Wheat-up, which is copyrighted.

Namilco has been in operation since May 1969, and will soon add the red whole wheat flour and wheat germ.

Mr. Sukhai said that the company spent over a billion dollars in re-tooling its operations over the years to increase capacity in anticipation of improved export markets.

He noted too that Namilco will be re-certified every three years.

Meanwhile, Operations Manager Mr. Ralf Hemsing, who spoke of the ISO 9001 certification, said that they started about two and half years ago after an audit revealed that they were 90 percent ready, and they since launched a stringent documentation exercise of operations where all employees were involved.

He said that the hard work finally paid off when they received the certificate which is a ‘big thing’ for Namilco.

Mr. Hemsing pointed out that now, with the acquisition of the ISO 9001 certificate, customers must know that they are buying quality products from Namilco.

He said that their entire operation is on par with international standards.

Namilco has also acquired the services of consultant Mr. Hafeeze Khan.
