POLICE have detained a male student for investigations after finding a female secondary schoolmate secluded in a wardrobe at a house in Canefield, East Canje, Berbice, on Monday.

The suspect was arrested following a report, by a concerned member of the public, that the fourth former had been sexually assaulted.

The Police acted on information that three female truants from a named secondary educational institution were in the house during school hours.

The Police party, including a female rank, went to the building and, after not getting any response, forced entry and saw two girls and a similar number of boys in the living room, with another male in a bedroom.

The teen in the bedroom denied having company but an observant policeman saw the open wardrobe door swaying and on checking, discovered the naked teenager stooping between clothes.

She was taken out, made to get dressed and escorted to a Police Station while her mother and the school headmistress were informed of the discovery
