THE children of 62-year-old Annkumarie Singh called ‘Betlyn’ are planning to rebuild for her after the house in which she lived, at Enmore, collapsed during heavy rain on Thursday.
The now homeless pensioner is staying with her daughter, Gita Singh, at Non Pariel, also on East Coast Demerara, but has been asking to return to the site of the destruction.
Her daughter said she and her siblings are going back there tomorrow to clear the debris and erect a small structure to accommodate the elderly woman who lives alone.
The displaced Singh said all her worldly possessions were destroyed in the fallen house and replacing it will be difficult.
The sexagenarian had been visiting relatives in the same village when her house fell about 09:30 hours, the same time neighbours saw sparks on a Guyana Power & Light (GPL) utility pole outside.
