PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – New Trinidad & Tobago team boss Russell Latapy and his assistant Zoran Vranes were yesterday expected to meet with football czar Jack Warner to discuss the country’s floundering World Cup campaign.
Latapy and Vranes were appointed last week following the resignation of head coach Colombian Francisco Maturana, in the wake of T&T poor form in the final round qualifying tournament.
Warner, a special adviser to the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation and the driving force behind the country’s debut at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, is expected to discuss a range of issues with Latapy and Vranes but the senior team’s qualifying dreams will be chief on the agenda.
T&T are bottom of the CONCACAF group on two points and without a win in their three outings to date.
They drew 2-2 with El Salvador in their opening game, snatched a late 1-1 stalemate in their second encounter against Honduras before being thrashed 3-0 by the United States two weeks ago.
At the meeting, Latapy, Vranes and Warner will also discuss plans for the youth team’s participation in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup Finals in Egypt.
Yesterday’s meeting follows one held between Latapy and Vranes on Tuesday, the first since they were appointed to their new role.
