Luncheon announces new appointments for top public officials

NEW Permanent Secretaries have been appointed within several ministries, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon disclosed last week Thursday at his weekly post-Cabinet briefing in Office of the President, Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown.

Luncheon said Mr. Emil McGarrell, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs has been reassigned to the Ministry of Housing and Water in the same position.

He also said Mr. Nigel Dharamlall has been identified for the appointment at the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs to replace McGarrell.

Dharamlall was Guyana’s Chief Fisheries Officer and among the posts he previously held were Chief Executive Officer of the tenth Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA X) and Project Coordinator of Guyana Rice Project Management Unit.

Mr. Colin Croal has been named Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Legal Affairs and is replacing Mrs. Mitra Devi Ali, who has been posted as Guyana’s Ambassador to Cuba.

Dr. Inderjit Ramdass has been promoted Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and his immediate predecessor, Mr. Doerga Persaud is now Executive Officer and Commissioner of Lands and Surveys at Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission.
